Product Description

Queensland, Annual Report of the Under Secretary for Mines…..for the Year 1911. Anthony James Cummings, Brisbane, 1912. Small folio, pp. iv, 207, large folded map of Queensland with additional overlay cover showing mining areas, large folding map of Kangaroo Hills, Star River Charters Towers and Ravenswood mining areas at rear, 24 photos, illustrations, numerous charts some folding.

The work is complete and in brown and light tan calf with gilt ruled covers, gilt spine titles and panel edging, gilt text block edges. The binding is exceptionally clean and tight, the text, maps, and illustrations are pristine. The book is in as new condition. Rare with all of the maps called for.

The mining reports covering Queensland’s districts are usually seen as extracted works from larger volumes and are seldom seen with the required maps. This copy was obviously well preserved and cared for. The volume contains the reports of the inspectors of mines, government geologists and other officers. Of particular interest are the reports on the gold and silver mining operations as well as reports on the sapphire, opal, and wolfram. The report contains a wealth of information.
