DeLuc (1727-1817) was a Swiss geologist, natural philosopher and meteorologist. He is mainly remembered for his writings on geology and meteorology. His book “Lettres sur l'histoire physique de la terre” or Letters on the Physical History of the Earth is addressed to Johann Friedrich Blumenbach. In it he provides what he considers to be the geological and physical proofs for a theory of the creation of the Earth in six periods of time modeled on the six days of creation.
