The Almaden mines are located in the Province of Ciudad Real in Spain. They mines have been worked since prehistoric times and have been a major source of cinnabar and mercury. The authors of this rare work were both mining engineers in Spain. They describe the history of mining at Almaden, provide detailed historical tables of production and values, describe and illustrate the mine workings, describe the geology, economic geology, ore deposits, the mineralogy, and the origins of the deposits. A nice association copy which was once owned by George F. Becker who wrote extensively on the New Almaden quicksilver deposits in California.
