The volumes are in a contemporary calf and marble covered boards with a penned spine label, short archival repair to lower binding edge of one volume. Binding is tight with minor wear, text and plates are clean with minor foxing to a few plates. Old society rubber stamp on title page. In very good condition.

These early Swiss natural history memoirs were originally published in Neuchatel and began with numerous works by L. Agassiz. Studies included the first works on the structure and stratigraphy of the Swiss Alps including the first study on flysch in which the term was used.
The 1860 volume contains important works on straigraphy and paleontology. The studies are:
