Product Description

Lindgren, Waldemar, Graton, L. C., & Gordon, C. H.; The Ore Deposits of New Mexico. USGS Prof. Paper 68. Washington, GPO, 1910. Quarto, pp.  361 pages, 22 plates ( some colored)  (including large folded map in pocket), 33 figs.

The work is complete with all plates and maps present, including the large locality map in the rear pocket. In original tan title wraps, owner’s name penned on cover (prominent mining geologist, Rollin Farmin 1903-1977). Later paper spine wrap with penned title. Cover with old fold crease on lower outer corner. Text is bright and clean, map in rear pocket is pristine. In very good condition. This is the rare first printing.

Lindgren led the first major survey of New Mexico’s rich and valuable mining industry and mineral deposits. The work remains a classic study of those deposits. The study begins with an overview of New Mexico’s geology, stratigraphy and the mineral deposits, their occurrence and types. The bulk of the work follows with a county by county detailed survey of the mining districts, ore deposits and mines.
