A French scientist and economist, Bernoulli (1782-1863) was the last of the great Bernoulli family of scientists. He was a champion of science, industry and technology and was a progressive thinker with regards to moving France and in fact all of Europe forward in the industrial revolution. He taught mathematics, physics, botany and mineralogy at Basel. Bernoulli wrote numerous works including two books on Switzerland’s minerals and mineralogy. His Grundzuge der Elementarophysik is a rare first edition of an elementary physics text in which he provides the basic elementary physics principles and methodology.
