This atlas is in the original light tan title wraps with a black cloth spine. Small Kittery Maine library stamp on upper left edge of cover. Light toning to outer margin of cover, text and plates are all exceptionally clean and bright. In very good condition.
Between 1894 and 1945 the USGS issued 227 folios covering various areas of the United States. The text pages of a folio covered the geology, historical geology, stratigraphy and if present the mineral and mining industry.
Lawson describes the geography, geology, stratigraphy, structural geology, geologic history and economic resources of the region covered.
