The work is complete and in a contemporary black cloth binding with gilt titles. The binding is tight and clean, small stamp on title page. In very good condition.
Howe provides a survey of the geology of the San Juans, describes the origins of landslides and their causes. He then gives a detailed description of the known slides in the San Juans, their causes and a classification of those slides. Many of the slides described are in the area of Rico, Telluride and Silverton and the plates provide views of the mountains and slides in those areas.
