Dahlgren, Charles B.; Historic Mines of Mexico. A Review of the Mines of that Republic for the Past Three Centuries. Compiled from the Works of Von Humboldt, Burkart, Egloffstein, Reports of the United Mexican Mining Association, the File of the "Minero Mexicano," and Geographical Society of Mexico, and Reports of Various Engineers of Mines and Mining Companies. New York: Printed for the Author, 1883. Quarto, pp. 220, frontispiece portrait, plates (some colored), maps (some folding).
The work is complete and in a later green cloth with gilt titles. The binding is tight and clean, the text is lightly toned with edge wear to the first few pages. Over all a very good copy of a rare work.
Dahlgren’s (1839-1912) privately produced historical survey of the mines of Mexico. The information, maps, plans etc. are compiled from the works of Humboldt and others, reports from various mining associations and companies, etc. The maps are quite notable, detailing the various mining regions, and individual mines.
