Volume 3, atlas slipcase with Geological Map of Australia with 11 sections in four sheets and Geological Map of Australian New Guinea with one section.

The set is complete with the two text volumes in the original cloth with gilt titles and dust jackets and atlas in original stiff paper boards. Light wear to atlas case edges, bindings on text volumes tight and pristine with clear acetate sleeves over dust jackets. Private ownership stamp of E. DeGolyer on title pages, and verso of maps and later signature of noted geolist John Dewey on end sheets. The text maps and plates are very clean. A very good complete set with the rare maps present.

Rare California Gold Book with maps, California State Mineralogist, 1890
California State Mineralogist; 10th Annual Report for the Year Ending December 1, 1890. Calif. State Mining Bureau, Sacramento, 1890. Octavo, pp. 983, 2 frontispieces being views of the mineral museum of the CDMG, 40 colored and b/w maps (many folded) profiles, plates, (many colored) numerous text illustrations.

The set is complete with the rare separate large folded maps present. Rare, with large geologic map of the Mother Lode region present. The work is in a contemporary half calf over marbled boards with gilt titles. The binding is tight and clean. X-lib. American Academy and Linda Hall with book plate on paste down, stamps on title page and text block edge. Presented by the California State Mineralogist to the American Academy. The text is clean and maps are clean with archival repairs at verso of some folds. Maps are loose at the rear of the work. In very good condition and seldom offered with the rare maps.

The book is complete and in the original embossed dark brown cloth with gilt stamped cover title. The binding is tight with spine expertly re-backed to match. Originally from the library of noted American mining geologist Rossiter Raymond with his initials and presented to the AIME by Alfred Raymond with AIME book plate on paste down. The text is very clean. A very nice association copy.
Patterson arrived in California in July 1849, and for the next twelve years worked his diggings near Georgetown, in El Dorado County. In addition to describing the gold region, Patterson provides a narrative of his own experiences. Much of the book contains information on the gold region, conditions found and advice to new miners.
