This rare work is complete and in a contemporary calf and marbled boards. The binding is tight and clean with light scuffing to covers. The text is very clean, plates are clean with moderate foxing to the last plate. Book plate of  William Alexandre Ooster (1816- ?) on end sheet. Ooster made major contributions to the study of the paleontology and stratigraphy of the Swiss Alps. Presented by Ooster to a later owner with inscription on end sheet dated 17 September 1895. In very good condition.

The work is complete and has been re-cased with the original wine colored cloth with a later matching spine. Gilt coat of arms on cover, gilt spine titles. Light discoloration on inner part of covers from old spine. The binding is tight, owner's book plate on front paste down with presentation inscription to the New York Nat. History Soc. and canceled A.M.N.H. stamp.  N.Y. Academy Sciences stamp on title page. Text is very clean. In very good condition. A rare catalogue of works in the geological sciences.

The work is complete and in a later calf over marbled boards with gilt spine titles. The binding is tight, light stain to lower board margin caused probably during binding, light foxing to title page and offset of image to title page. In very good condition.

This presentation set to Marcou  is complete and in the original blue boards with a later cloth spine and original paper title labels preserved. The original paste downs are preserved with Jules Marcou's book plate followed by the AMNH book plate with canceled stamp and finally the book plate of Henry Faul. The first end sheet in volume 1 is inscribed in Buckland's pen in French. The text and plates in both volumes are clean and crisp. The "Supplement" was issued as a separate and is in a later wrap. It is clean with the text and plate very clean and crisp. Over all a very good presentation set to Jules Marcou.
