Bindings are tight, some light foxing to first pages of a few texts, over all text pages are very clean. Armorial book plate of W.T.O. Pawlett on paste downs with his signature on titles. In very good condition.

In five parts, Part 1, General Report, pp. 131, 41 woodcuts (from sketches by Molhausen & Egloffstein), 7 colored plates, 11 b/w litho plates, and 8 folded panoramic views (by Egloffstein) and the frontispiece which depicts the expedition's steamboat "Explorer" passing Chimmey Rock, two folded maps covering route from the mouth of the Colorado to Fort Defiance and a plate showing the profile of the route. Part 2, Hydrographic Report, pp. 14. Part 3, Geological Report, pp. 154, 6 litho. plates ( 3 views, 3 fossils ). The work is complete and in the original cloth with a gilt over vignette of "Explorer" and gilt spine titles which have faded to green (this is common with copies in the original cloth). The binding is tight and clean with minor archival restoration to corners which is not noticed. The text and plates are very clean and free of any stamps or blemishes. A very short hinge tear to one map which was repaired on the verso with archival tape. This is an exceptionally clean copy in very good condition.

The set is complete and both volumes are in the original matching brown cloth,with gilt spine titles. Light wear to binding edges and corners inner hinges nicely re-enforced on supplement volume. Owners book plate on first end sheet of volume 1, very light toning to some outer text and plate margins. Over all an exceptionally clean set in very good condition.

Texts are very clean, with minor small wear edge to titles repaired with archival tissue. The colored map and plates are very clean. In very good condition.

The set is complete and in a contemporary full paneled calf with gilt ruled borders, gilt spine titles, six gilt spine panels, marbled end papers and matching text block edges. Inscribed by Buckland on the half title of volume 1, with original owners coat of arms on paste down and later owners book plate on opposite end sheet. The bindings are tight and clean, text is very clean and crisp, some plates have light foxing on verso of plates and along an outer margin. Over all in very good condition.
