In original half calf and marbled boards with gilt titles and spine panels. The binding is tight and clean, spine rubbed, text untrimmed and plates are bright, crisp and free of toning or foxing. An exceptional copy.

Quarto, 9 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches. This is volume 1 part 2 and the last part published. The volume is in a blue linen with gilt titles. Old call number on lower spine, later private owners stamp on end sheet. card pocket removed from rear and small discard stamp on first page of contents. Light foxing to some text and a few plates, light stain to outer margin of a few text pages. Text is still untrimmed, several articles have early penciled notations along margins.  Over all in good-very good condition. The first printing of a very rare geology work.

Original orange cloth with gilt cover and spine titles, covers worn at edges, small smudge from catalogue number on lower spine, spine sun-faded, the text is very clean. Note tipped on to front end sheet "with the compliments of the author", below this is the book plate of Florence Bascom, and below that is her tipped on signature. A nice association copy of the 1st edition of a classic in igneous petrology.

The text is in a contemporary half calf with gilt ruled borders, raised spine panels with gilt spine titles and gilt edges. The binding is tight and clean, text is very clean with inscription on title page. The atlas is in the original boards with original paper title label and index. Binding is worn and soiled, plates have minor foxing to margins with exception of last two plates which have heavy foxing and damp margin on lower gutter edge. Over all a very good set.
