The three volumes are complete and in a contemporary half calf over marbled boards, raised spine bands, gilt tooled spine panels, titles and borders, marbled end sheets. Minor rubbing to boards and corners, minor light foxing to first and last pages, owners stamp on title page and end sheet, small rubber stamp mark removed from titles. In very good condition. The Microscopical Society was founded in London in 1840 to promote the use of the microscope and publish the results of studies with the microscope in the sciences and medicine and advances in technology. The majority of the papers in the first three transaction volumes are by prominent European paleontologists, biologists, zoologists, and botanists.
