Medical Botany by Stephenson and Churchill ranks with Sowerby and Edwards as one of the most well written botanical works of the 19th Century. In terms of its colored plates, the work is by far the most beautiful. In addition to the beautiful plates the work is also a serious medical and botanical text. Each plant is described in detail and often includes the exact doses for specific medicines. The description for each plant includes detailed physical characteristics, medicinal properties and uses, chemical properties, adulterations, medical properties, internal use and dosages and external uses.
