An English geologist and mineralogist; Weaver (1773-1855) wrote the first English translation of Werner's "Die ausseren Kennzeichnen der Fossilien" in 1805. He also produced some of the first geological maps of parts of England and southern Ireland as well as the first descriptions of the "Irish Elk". His above work is an important study on Irish geology with the first accurate defining of the stratigraphy, mineral deposits and geology of eastern Ireland.
