The work is complete and in a 19th century cloth over marbled boards. The binding is tight with a personal catalogue number on the upper corner, owners book plate on paste down, the text is lightly toned but very clean. In very good condition. Very rare.

Ritter (1684-1748) was a German educator, politician and scientist. Ritter was the first "Hofmeister," then in succession Substitut (1717), Subconrector (1721), Conrector (1723) and Prorector (1740) at the royal Stiftscollegiums at Ilefeld. He held membership in the Leopoldinian Academy. He was also the Prorector at the Royal College at Ilefeld and a member of the Academia Caesarea Naturae Curiosorum. Ritter wrote several short works on mineralogical and palaeontological subjects. His two part work Oryctographiae Calenbergicae Sive Rervm Fossilivm discusses various aspects of fossils and “formed stones.
