The work is complete and in the original rust colored cloth with black cover titles and vignette. The binding is tight and very clean with only minor scuffing to board edges. The text is very clean. A very good copy of the scarce first printing. FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ITEMS A fascinating and interesting look at the famous Butte Montana mining district and town. The work is profusely illustrated with early photographs, mainly focused on mining, but also covering early businesses, churches, city and county institutions, railroads, and prominent citizens, including Granville Stuart, one of the great cattle barons of the Northwest. One of the Charles Russell illustrations is titled Shooting Up the Town and shows cowboys shooting up the town of Butte, with chickens, a dog and a Chinese man on the run. The work has numerous interesting photos plus commentary and include Granville Stuart, Charles T. Meader, the city of Butte, city and county institutions, churches, prominent residences, mining magnates, Montana State School of Mines, numerous views of the mines including underground workings, mining equipment, the smelters and miners, local businesses, the railroads and much more. The addition of two other scarce pieces on Butte add to the work.
