Lake (1865-1949) was a British invertebrate paleontologist and geographer. He is best known for his studies of Cambrian trilobites. His above 14 part work was the first systematic treatment of all of the British Cambrian species of trilobites. Salter's original studies from 1864 had only described two species from Cambrian beds.
