An English explorer, Rickmers provides an account of twenty years of exploration in Turkestan, in the area he named the Duab which is the region area between, the Oxus (Amu-Darya) and Jaxartes (Syr-Darya) rivers. The region lies east of the Caspian Sea and south of Lake Aral and includes the Pamir Range on the southeast, and is bounded by the Hindukush on the southwest.
