Very good. Rare. Ulisse Aldrovandi (1522 - 1605) was trained as a naturalist in Bologna. He taught the natural sciences (botany, zoology and earth sciences) at the old university in Bologna. Aldrovandi was one of the earliest collectors of natural objects. His original catalogs still reside in Bologna and his listings of specimens in his own penned hand fill 187 volumes. The publishd version runs to 13 large folio volumes. The work is a vast encyclopedia of what was then known about animal, vegetable, and minerals.
