Book by Arnold Hague et.al; Geology of the Yellowstone National Park, Pt. 2 Item Number: Book-218
Hague, Arnold; Geology of the Yellowstone National Park, Pt. 2, Descriptive Geology, Petrography, and Paleontology; with Atlas. (all published) USGS Monograph 32, Washington, 1899. Quarto text, pp. xvii, 893, x, 121 plates. Folio atlas, 27 sheets. Hague (1840-1917); an American geologist and petrologist began his career with the Clarence King surveys of the Fortieth Parallel followed by studies with Raphael Pumpelly's surveys in China. He is best remembered for his studies with the USGS in Yellowstone. His surveys covered the Gallatin, Snowy, Absaroka and Teton ranges around Yellowstone and then focused on the petrography, geology and paleontology within the park itself. It was Hague's intention to have a part 1 of the set devoted to the physical geology and geysers of Yellowstone. However, funding cuts (as usual) delayed the publication and Hague's death in 1917 ended all hope of the work being published by the USGS.
