A German mineralogist and stratigrapher, Glocker (1793-1858) was a Professor of mineralogy at the University of Breslau. He published several early and important text works and studies of the mineralogy of Moravia. "Grundriss der Mineralogie" is Glocker's text on mineralogy, geology and paleontology. In the first part Glocker introduces and provides an excellent history of mineralogy, crystallography, and paleontology which is followed by an extensive bibliography of mineralogy, crystallography, paleontology and geology. He then discusses crystallography, the physical and chemical properties of mineralogy and descriptive mineralogy. The work is scarce and is considered an important work in the history of mineralogy.
