This very rare work is complete and in a 19th century half calf over marbled boards with gilt titles and text block edges and marbled end sheets. The binding is tight with light restoration to hinges. Owners book plate on paste down, light foxing to some text page margins and plate margins. In very good condition.

Very little is known of the English mineralogist and paleontologist, Charles Moxon (1805-?). Moxon also authored "An Introduction to Mineralogy Founded on the Chemical Composition of Mineral and Metallic Bodies". His work on British fossils contains brief descriptions of British strata and 340 figures with descriptions on 34 plates of the known British fossils.
