Héricart de Thury (1776-1854) was a French politician and mining engineer. He was a graduate of the Ecole des Mines and after assignments in the south of France he was appointed General Inspector of Quarries and Mines in 1809 and held the position until 1830. He wrote over 350 scholarly works.
Amongst his many writings is a short description of the Department of Marne in north-eastern France. He describes the mineral resources, the minerals, geology, and geography of the region. The work is quite scarce.
