The work is complete and in the original paper covered boards with a red calf spine with gilt titles, text never trimmed, minor light soiling to text block edges. In very good condition.

An English mineralogist and mining engineer; Forster (1772-1835) is best known for the above work which contained important original observations on the strata and mineral veins of northern England. The work was first published in a much shorter version in 1809. The above 2nd edition was greatly expanded to include plates and many of the important observations. This is a detailed view of the lead mines, mineral veins, mining methods, the mines and geology of the region.
